Heaps of children have been down to Hokitika beach over the past week to be creative and learn about penguins. The event continues today (Saturday 25th) and wraps up on Sunday with prizegiving at 2pm.
Trust Administrator, Clare Cosson, has provided lots of creative activities for children including penguin painting, create a driftwood penguin mobile, make a penguin out of a plastic drink bottle, print a penguin reusable bag and much more alongside the now familiar Penguinville and the creation of fun penguin houses. In addition, each child had the opportunity to become a penguin junior ranger by completing five activities including a quiz and collecting litter.
Children have a day and a half left to build or complete their penguin houses and then the pressure will on the Trust’s judges on Sunday to pick some winners, as they are all magnificent and have all been built with pride and often great team work.
Judging is from noon and prizegiving will be at 2pm at the Driftwood & Sand festival base.
