It’s a winning year for the West Coast Blue Penguin Trust , which was named winner of the ‘protecting our coasts and oceans’ category of the prestigious Green Ribbon Awards 2012. The Ministry for the Environment awards were presented at Parliament on Tuesday and Inger Perkins attended the event on behalf of the Trust, receiving the award from the Minister, Hon Amy Adams and MP Jonathan Young.
The accolade is a great honour for the Trust, recognising the achievements and successes since its small beginnings in 2004. We are indebted to current and past sponsors and supporters, in particular the Government’s biodiversity funds, Holcim and Solid Energy. Trust Chair, Kerry-Jayne Wilson said that “without their assistance plus that of numerous volunteers, we would have achieved so much less”.
The awards were presented on World Environment Day, when actions around the world draw attention to the needs of the environment. The Trust is very proud to be making a difference along with all the many Green Ribbon Award nominees, finalists and winners.
