Kerry-Jayne Wilson is among the team of scientists, other passengers and crew aboard the ship MV Akademik Shokalskiy trapped in ice in Antarctica. The Captain issued a distress call yesterday and icebreakers are on their way to rescue the ship. Kerry-Jayne sent her latest news on Christmas Eve. (updated 30 Dec)
Her report talks about being stuck and the ice pushing hard against the ship and reports that they are in no danger. However only some 12 hours later, the distress call was made. News around the world have been reporting on the ice bound ship, which is now pinning its hopes on the third and final rescue vessel.
