Penguin Trust representatives available to talk to schools & groups

In December ranger Reuben Lane spent some time with the Greymouth Scouts at the beach teaching them about blue penguins and their habitat. Trust wins top conservation award

It’s a winning year for the West Coast Blue Penguin Trust , which was named winner of the ‘protecting our coasts and oceans’ category of the prestigious Green Ribbon Awards 2012. The Ministry for the Environment awards were presented at Parliament on Tuesday and Inger Perkins attended the event on behalf of the Trust, receiving the award from the Minister, Hon Amy Adams and MP Jonathan Young.
Helicopter and crane rescue from the ice

Seaweek beach and art activity with Hokitika Primary

DOC arranged for Seaweek field trips and art activities for a number of schools between Cobden and Haast, including a penguin inspired day with Hokitika Primary School children recently.
Penguins, science and history combine in climate study

Beech mast leads to stoats leads to breeding failure …. in the third year of the Trust’s monitoring of potential predators and predation of Fiordland crested penguins, stoats at Jackson Head have proved to be a significant threat, taking virtually all eggs or chicks during the 2016 breeding season.
